Writing...
It has occurred to me of late that I am no longer a good writer. I was, once upon a time, because I had a lot of practice even when I wasn't doing anything on my own time. Since I left high school I've hardly written besides in this blog and occasional papers or fiction when I was inspired. What came naturally as breathing is now about as easy as juggling geese.
My grasp of grammar is better than ever and I can spell as well as I ever could, but I can't sit down and write a flowing, well structured piece from start to finish with minimal editing like I did all through school. I think I might have to go back to the techique I use with research papers and longer fiction, which is basically just detailed outlining.
I've written many papers, but the best ones I ever wrote were built from the ground up with a thesis, research, and a real outline down to the point by point structure in each paragraph. I know Acidman uses a pretty basic formula for his posts, and though I'm a great deal longer winded than him, maybe I should do the same.
